On a dark New Mexico highway, a bus driver was surprised by an unlit disabled vehicle stopped in the middle of the travel lane. As the driver attempted an evasive maneuver , the bus rolled onto it’s side and came to a rest with it’s dark undercarriage oriented toward oncoming traffic.
As might be expected, there existed a thorough State Trooper investigation which including drone footage and measurements. Mountain Graphix was asked to illustrate the sequence of events regarding the incident.
Moments later, a semi-truck struck the incapacitated bus causing multiple injuries to the passengers and both drivers.
The case focused on the timing of the truck driver’s perception and reaction. (Some of the animation were portrayed in the daylight, for clarity, but the accident occurred at night).
