Audience volunteers at a David Copperfield show were instructed to quickly exit the theatre via a hidden door after they “disappeared” in one of the performers trademark illusions. The audience members where to quickly travel around the outside of the casino-theatre where they would “magically reappear “ in another location in the theatre.
One of the audience-volunteers tripped while being ushered around the outside of the theatre, and sustained minor injuries.
Mountain Graphix was asked to re-create a 3D version of the outside of the casino where the incident occurred. Using Laser Scans of the building, sidewalk and exits, a 3D model was constructed and populated with 3D actors, referred to as bipeds.
Based on security video, an animation was created matching the movements of all of the audience members and staff who were present at the incident to illustrate that the injured party (while partially obscured by a tree), must have tripped forward rather than slip and fell on his back.
