It was a powder morning in the Sierra Nevada’s. The Mt Rose Ski Patrol determined that “The Chutes” could not be safely opened, so the Northwest Magnum Chair was to remail closed.
A long-time skier was determined to check out the conditions of the bowl. So, he, doggedly, traversed through forest and across ski runs over to The Chutes from the top of Lakeview Chair. His traverse took him between Jackpot Chute and Cutthroat Chute. His ski tracks show that he cut under the rope, near a warning sign, into the bowl', and his body was later found near the bottom buried in an avalanche.
Mountain Graphix visited Mt Rose and videoed the skier’s route from the top of the Lakeview Express over to where the skier was believed to have entered.
